Program Coordinator Position Now Open

MVRCR was selected by Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) to receive a grant throughAmericorps to supplement, expand and deepen already existing Cultural Orientation education and activities by recruiting volunteers from existing refugee communities to become tutors.

The grant program focuses on fifteen important topics ranging from United States’ Laws to Cultural Adjustment all of which acknowledge cultural orientation and integration into a new community. The new program looks to expand the Cultural Orientation program by recruiting more than twenty volunteers to assist with creating and implementing new activities and educational components to work with newly arriving individuals and families. These activities will be highly interactive and include more creative approaches to Cultural Orientation. It also seeks to find and foster partnerships with local businesses and organizations in various fields of expertise to incorporate their knowledge into the Cultural Orientation curriculum.

For more information on the new Cultural Orientation program, or to get involved as a volunteer or presenter contact the Resettlement Director, Dzevad Racic,
