MVRCR to Provide Cultural Competency Training for the Utica Police Department

Utica, New York - The Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees (MVRCR) is pleased to announce that funding received from the M&T/Partner’s Trust Fund at The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties, Inc. will support cultural competency training in April of 2019 for the Utica Police Department.

MVRCR is partnering with the Utica Police Department (UPD) on a series of cultural competency trainings for UPD officers and staff. The trainings are scheduled for April 2, 4, 8, 12, 18, 22 from 8:30am - 12:00pm in MVRCR’s newly remodeled training space located at 201 Bleecker Street, Utica. The trainings are intended to provide the cultural knowledge and tools needed for local law enforcement to effectively interact and serve the diverse community in Utica, which in turn will positively affect the relationship of the refugee and immigrant community with UPD.
