MVRCR Receives Funding for New Agency Van
The Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees (MVRCR) has received funding to purchase a new agency van. MVRCR received $14,000 in private donations from Kathleen Sinnott, as well as Robert & Carol Keller through the Keller Family Fund held at The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties, and the DJ Smith Family Foundation. In addition, a matching donation of $14,000 was received from the Indium Corporation & Macartney Family Foundation. The van is a vital component of the agency’s ability to serve clients and is used on a daily basis to transport individuals and families for a variety of services; including medical appointments, employment services, mental health appointments, school enrollment, employment interviews, citizenship appointments, and other community services.
MVRCR Executive Director Shelly Callahan recognized the significant contribution in a statement, “We truly appreciate and value the individuals, families, foundations and corporations that support the work that MVRCR provides in the community. Through the generous support we receive, MVRCR is able to provide the level of service necessary to engage refugees and immigrants who contribute to the economy and cultural vibrancy of the city and region.”
