Faith Based Organizations

Without the support of the local community the Refugee Center would not be able to do the work that we do. We consider the entire City of Utica and the surrounding Mohawk Valley to be our partner as we work together to build community with many cultures. Historically religious organizations were the places where ethnic communities gathered and continued their traditions. Faith Based Communities played a crucial role in the creation of the Refugee Resettlement Program in the U.S., formally founded in 1980. Both of these traditions continue as the faith based communities in Utica and the greater Mohawk Valley welcome refugees and immigrants and actively support the work of the Refugee Center.
