Bu Bu works as an Interpreter and Translator for Compass Interpreters, the interpretation and translation department at MVRCR. In addition to interpreting Bu Bu also works in the Immigration and Citizenship department assisting clients with immigration paperwork, which he is accredited to complete through New York State. Bu Bu is originally from Burma (Myanmar) and speaks his native Karen and Burmese languages and is accredited by the Cross Cultural Healthcare Program for medical interpreting. Bu Bu came to the United States in December 2007 and began working at the Refugee Center in February of 2008. He graduated from Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary in Burma and furthered his studies in India completing a BLA degree in Economics with a minor in Computers. Before coming to the U.S. Bu Bu worked six years as a teacher in Mae La Refugee Camp.
